Show all notes Note High Sheriff of County Limerick, member of Parliament from Askeaton served in the Commonwealth Army as captain in 1656 Note George Evans, son of John Evans by his wife Ellen De Verdon, was born in Ireland, and died there in 1707, at an advanced age, having served as High Sheriff of County Limerick in 1672, and as a member of Parliament from Asketon. He left issue a younger son, John Evans, who became a commander in the Royal Navy, and died without issue in 1723. Another son, George Evans, Jr., married Mary, a daughter of John Eyre, of Eyre's Court, and was very active in promoting the Revolution of 1688. After the reduction of the kingdom by King William, he returned to Parliament and called to the Privy Council. He died in May, 1720, and his body was embalmed and lay in state until June 16, when it was interred.
