The family of Evans, from whom the writer derives his lineage, deduces its descent from the renowned Elystan Glodrydd, Prince of Fferlys, founder of the fourth royal tribe of Wales, and was originally seated in Carmarthenshire, whence a branch removed, in the reign of James I, to Ireland, -viz., Robert Evans, and the ancestor of Evans of Baymount, County Dublin, and his brother, John Evans.
